According to Wikipedia: The Kasidah of Haji Abdu El-Yezdi is a long poem written by Haji Abdu El-Yezdi, who is widely considered an invention by the true author, Sir Richard Francis Burton. In a note to the reader, Burton claims to be the translator of the poem, to which he gives the English title Lay of the Higher Law. In notes following the poem, Burton claims to have received the manuscript from his friend Haji Abdu, a native of Darabghird in the Yezd Province of Persia. Describing Haji Abdu, Burton writes that he spoke an array of languages and notes that his memory was well-stored; and he had every talent save that of using his talents. The Sufi writer Idries Shah, in his book The Sufis, states that The Kasidah was a distillation of Sufi thought, and that there seems little doubt that Burton was trying to project Sufi teaching in the West... In Sufism he finds a system of application to misguided faiths 'which will prove them all right, and all wrong; which will reconcile their differences; will unite past creeds; will account for the present and will anticipate the future with a continuous and uninterrupted development.'

With a client list hotter than the Zubran desert, wedding planner Avery Scott shouldn't be surprised that her latest client is Crown Prince Malik of Zubran—the man who once lit her body on fire…before steamrollering over her heart. Determined to ignore Malik's lethal charm, Avery makes a very personal not-to-do list: 1. Not being Malik's intended, our relationship must remain 100 percent professional. 2. His arranged bride might have run away, but I mustn't distract him—for the kings of Zubran, duty always comes first. 3. However luxurious the Bedouin tent—and smoldering the tension—pride dictates the touch I crave stays strictly forbidden.

"In this intoxicating tale of love and madness, mothers and daughters, folkloric wisdom and the grim legacy of slavery on the French Antillean island of Guadeloupe, aged yet unbowed Telumee tells her life story, along with that of the proud line of Lougandor women she continues to draw strength from, even in their physical absence. Having obtained, with dizzying speed, love and happiness and the trust of others, Telumee must find the resources, personal and collective, both to rejoice without reserve and then, in less fortunate seasons, to survive suffering that would crush weaker vessels. In the words of Queen Without a Name, the stoic and tender grandmother who raises her, Behind one pain there is another. Sorrow is a wave without end. But the horse mustn't ride you, you must ride it. A masterpiece of Caribbean literature, The Bridge of Beyondrepresents at once a gorgeously thick description of the flora and climate, crafts and customs of the island, and the triumph of a spirit so generous and hopeful that no earthly adversity could outlast it. Simone Schwarz-Bart's sinuous and lyrical prose, interwoven with proverbs and other local sayings, appears here in an uncomm
